In the fourth installment in the Making of America series, a Susan B. Anthony biography for young readers, award-winning author Teri Kanefield examines the life of America’s famous suffragette.
Susan B. Anthony was born into a world in which men ruled women: A man could beat his wife, take her earnings, have her committed into an asylum based on his word, and take her children away from her. While the young nation was ablaze with the radical notion that people could govern themselves, “people” were understood to be white and male. Women were expected to stay out of public life and debates.
As Anthony saw the situation, “Women’s subsistence is in the hands of men, and most arbitrarily and unjustly does he exercise his consequent power.” She began her public career as a radical abolitionist, and after the Civil War, she became an international figurehead of the women’s suffrage movement. The book includes archival images as well as selections of Anthony’s writing, endnotes, a bibliography, and an index.

enjoyable!
Format: Kindle
YA novel with a Romeo & Juliet twist. I have read Rebecca Serle adult novels and really enjoyed them ..saw this on my Kindle feed and thought “why not?” Never too old to read YA fiction! The author’s characters are always ring true …and story moves along quickly and brings chuckles, sadness, and enjoyable conclusions.

Once I started reading I had to finish with no interruptions!!! Amazing!!!
Format: Kindle
I loved this book! It's your typical high school story of growing up, falling in love, and losing your first love. I loved the dynamic of the Rosaline, Charlie, and Olivia's friendship and how the girls stuck together. Also I literally felt the heartache Rosaline felt when losing Rob to Juliet but also when she lost the both of them. I really wished what happened to the both of them didn't end that way but it's life. A lot of people lose someone important to them in high school. Len was really my favorite character and how he brought the best of Rosaline out was so heartwarming. Len is the guy you always root for! Even though the ending was heart wrenching and bittersweet I would recommend this book to anyone. I cried, I laughed, and I felt every emotion Rosaline felt! Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Perfect from the beginning to the end! Especially the way Rosaline went to the cliff and found Len there!!!
