Description
AUSTRALIS: 1940 - "Berthing" plan from late 1960sChandris Lines: A fold out (22" by 35") "Berthing Plan" from the late 1960s while the AUSTRALIS was being used as an immigrant ship on the Australian run. The ship was much loved by many of her passengers who took the long voyage to seek new opportunities and new lives. Eight decks are shown. During her days as United States Lines' AMERICA, the ship was divided into 3 classes. When Chandris bought her in 1964 the ship was converted to one class.
and the First Class Lounge was redecorated into a ballroom
and DEL MAR
In back is an extensive list of shore excursions
and two views of the Lounge
Later stints included Royal Cruise Line as the ROYAL ODYSSEY and Regency Cruises as the REGENT SUN
Since the EMPRESS OF BRITAIN and the EMPRESS OF ENGLAND were close sisters
There are twelve color photos from all three classes showing public rooms and cabins
I count thirty ship photos including portraits
Photos include a portrait
Thank you Costa
The elaborate oriental-deco decor is beautifully recreated on the walls and floor
In here you'll see glimpses of the ex-New Zealand Shipping Company liners which Tung picked up for a song
