Their last album to include contributions by late original guitarist Piggy, and also their last to feature Jason Newsted (ex Metallica) on bass (Newsted also mixed the album). The record was built from the final songs created by the band with Denis DAmour aka Piggy. All his original demo guitar tracks appear as they were

the band drilled its songs with maniacal zeal before bottling that energy in a two-week recording blitz with Daniel Rey at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606

But throughout most of Hot New Spirits they both wisely and endearingly set themselves apart from the flock

dedicated to the noble art of riffs
