Beryl
Description
BerylFrom an isolated, small pocket that came out in 2011, this was one of only a handful of crystals recovered according to my source who acquired them directly at the locality. These crystals are not quite blue, not quite green, but somewhere in between. I wont call them Aquamarines, but they do have an interesting color. To me, the most important fact about this piece is that its so sharp and well formed. Beryl crystals from Madagascar can often be
"sword"-shaped crystals with a glowing golden-orange hue and thin black internal "phantoms" which are growing at nearly a 90 degree angle off of a single
and this particular specimen is very fairly priced compared to everything else I've seen on the market
but with strong backlighting
and just beautiful for the locality
silvery acicular "spray" of Jamesonite needles
Beautiful material
This piece is notably colorless (it has a very pale golden overtone) compared to virtually everything else I've seen from the Palelni Mine
This specimen is a really interesting example of the famous Copper "skulls" from Michigan
which is not common in this material as they are often a bit rounded
and the color contrast of this piece combined with the fact that it is from a now defunct locality makes it a very attractive and desirable East Coast classic
This is about as showy and aesthetic as it gets for Brookite
well-formed black and brown cyclic twinned crystals make for an appealing display piece
